Written by Bruce Wayne -The Batman
“Alfred,
Your letter reached me at a moment when even I couldn’t deny the heaviness of my mission. You’ve always been the voice of reason…the steady hand pulling me back when the abyss comes too close.
For that, I owe you far more than gratitude.
I know what you see, Alfred. You see the bruises, the scars, those visible and those not. ….but trust me when I tell you that the burden isn’t something I choose lightly. It’s the only way I know to honor their memory, to give purpose to a tragedy that never truly heals.
Yet, as always, your words strike deeper than any blow I’ve faced. You’re right: Batman may have been born out of darkness, but Bruce Wayne still lives, still breathes beneath this cowl. Sometimes I forget that. Sometimes I lose sight of the man you believe me to be.
Perhaps, just perhaps, you’re correct in suggesting that I share the burden. It’s not an easy admission, Alfred. Asking for help never has been. But I will consider your counsel…I always have.
Thank you for seeing past the cape and the symbol, for reminding me who I am beneath them.
For reminding me I am not alone.
With my deepest respect,
Bruce”
Love this. Sooooo much.
